As one of the largest chapters of the nationwide Finlandia Foundation, the Seattle Chapter actively pursues objectives that have been the core of the chapter since its establishment in 1968 by providing Finnish language classes, presenting Finnish movies, organizing a variety of events throughout the year such as the Finnish Independence Day Dinner and Dance, and more!
Finland 100 Concert
On Saturday November 4th at 2 PM, Philharmonia Northwest, directed by Julia Tai, soprano Maria Mannisto, and a choir consisting of members of local Nordic and Baltic choirs will perform music by Jean Sibelius, Kaija Saariaho and Einojuhani Rautavaara at Benaroya Hall. Independence Day Gala
The Independence Day Gala is on Saturday December 2nd at the University of Washington Center for Urban Horticulture, 501 NE 41st Street, Seattle. The event begins with a social hour at 6 PM, followed by dinner and program at 7 PM. Tickets are $65/person. See the IDDD page for information about how to purchase tickets.
