This Is My Childhood: Finland at War, a documentary based on the wartime memories of local Finnish immigrants, will have its premiere at 7:00 p.m. on January 28 in the Nordic Heritage Museum.
This hour-long production is culled from more than 25 hours of interviews done through the Nordic American Voices Oral History Project over the past six years. In This Is My Childhood, some two dozen of those interviewed tell their stories of being in Finland during and after the Winter, Continuation and Lapland Wars and of living as war children in Sweden. They will be honored guests at the premiere.
All are invited to attend this screening, as well as a reception that will follow. There is no charge for the evening’s activities, but copies of the documentary in DVD format will be available for purchase.
RSVP to nav@nordicmuseum.org or 206-789-5707, ext. 24.
